Why do I need to MOT my vehicle?
Everyone who uses a vehicle on the road must keep it in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that vehicles meet road safety and environmental standards. The first MOT test for a vehicle is required when it is three years old. There are different rules if it’s used as a taxi. |
| MOT testing is a legal requirement for all cars and commercials over 3 years old, with the purpose of making sure that your car meets the minimum safety requirements. Without a valid MOT, your car insurance and road tax become invalidated and your car may not be road worthy. Therefore it's important that you make sure your MOT certificate is in date and you book your next MOT before your current certificate expires. You can do this up to one month before the end of your current MOT certificate. |
